All too many women are are struggling with symptoms of hormonal imbalance. But very few women are clear on the real root causes, making it nearly impossible for them to get effective and sustainable solutions. This article serves to offer a new perspective on it.

Symptoms

Hormones are some of the most powerful messengers in the body. They can leave us feeling either glowing and energetic, or cranky, bloated, and tired. When they’re chronically imbalanced, it can bring women to the brink of desperation because they impact all areas of our lives. Some common symptoms include:

  • low libido
  • weight gain or loss
  • sleep problems
  • sensitivity to hot or cold
  • change in heart rate
  • fertility issues
  • irregular or heavy menstrual cycles
  • food sensitivities
  • reflux
  • bloating and/or constipation
  • difficulty with blood sugar regulation
  • low or inconsistent energy
  • depression and/or anxiety
  • headaches
  • PMS
  • thinning and brittle hair
  • acne, dry skin, and skin rashes

If you suffer from any of these symptoms, it’s easy to feel frustrated with your body. I get how a relationship of mistrust with your body can develop when you’re gaining weight, have a rockbottom libido, and are breaking out all the time despite trying to take care of yourself. If there is any mistrust, it’s very hard to listen to and work in partnership with the body. It’s also very easy to fall into the trap of symptom suppression when we are aching to function normally.

I see how women end up on round after round of antibiotics to “treat” their acne, scour the internet for the right weight loss supplement, pop Xanax like candy, and use birth control to address debilitating premenstrual symptoms. Motherhood keeps us so busy that bandaid solutions are sometimes all we feel we can manage. And then on top of that we feel guilt for all of it.

Survival

We are living in constant survival mode, but our bodies are not designed for that.

The stress that our bodies endure as a result of how we do life are the real sources of hormonal imbalance. What you need to know is that your incredible body and powerful hormones are simply responding to the demands we have placed on them and to the environment we live in. Your body is not randomly rebelling, it’s responding in an effort to survive and maintain balance.

That’s truly how fantastic your body is. Trying to suppress or control your body’s cry for help as it drowns in stress is not only heavy-handed, but ignores the root cause and has downstream side effects.

Even birth control pills can have huge, long-term side effects that most women are not educated on by the prescribing provider. Did you get a complete rundown of the various vitamin and mineral deficiencies that oral birth control can cause when you first got them? I doubt it.

Solution

There is so much more you can do to address the symptoms and give your body what it really needs. You deserve to feel amazing, and I’m living proof that it’s possible even in a full mama life.

Most women are SO ready to welcome more energy, joy, and ease back into their lives. Your body and your soul are craving it, and your body is yelling at you via symptoms. This requires a change in perspective on what is actually causing hormonal imbalances, and how we address them.

If you’re tired of feeling tired, then this video is for you.
